Recently I had the opportunity of going to Microsoft Partners In Learning Summer Camp. It was a great day and I got to meet so many innovative teachers with lots of brilliant ideas. I has to be one of the best CPD experiences I have ever had, and the best thing about it was that it was free. They introduced so many useful tools such as Photosynth, Fuse, Songsmith and the one which grabbed my attention the most was Microsoft Tag. Microsoft Tag is a new tool launched by Microsoft which works in a similar way to QR codes. The great thing about this tool is that it is available for almost all smart phones and it seems to run a lot more efficiently. I was able to simply swipe my phone of it and the Tag took me to the URL or Phone number instantly.
Since going to the Microsoft Partners In Learning Summer Camp, I cannot stop thinking about the possibilities within lessons and not just my own ICT lessons. Imagine you were a French teacher and you want to show students the meaning around words… you could insert a tag image into the text and the student could scan it with their phone and research the information for themselves. Now obviously not every student will have a smart phone but then you could think about collaboration because looking at surveys online, 1 in 5 students will have a smart phone.
