Punching Numbers–Prime Numbers Game

So I was watching TV the other night and they were talking about money and the economy and someone kept saying, “when you punch numbers”. I understood what they were talking about but Ironically I ended up watching Rocky shortly after. This gave me a brilliant idea!! I thought about how students could play a number game just by punching.

It was only last week that I realised how to work out the depth values and I thought I would have a go at creating my first Kinect Application which detects how close your hands are to the Kinect. When students punch with their hands it detects where it is a prime number or not. If you punch with your right hand you are telling the game that you think it is a Prime Number. If you think it isn’t a Prime Number, then you would punch with your left hand.

I hope to update this with footage of the students using it, however I thought that some of you might want to try this now.

You can download the source here, alternatively you can join the Partners In Learning Network and access Kinect Resources.

If you look at the video below, you will be able to see the game in action.
